So many people find it incredibly arousing to be tied up or to tie someone else up. Lots of these people use handcuffs or ties to get their thrills, but others do a little more research and go down the path of rope bondage. Many are inspired by the likes of Shibari, which is a contemporary type of rope bondage with Japanese origins. It is also called Japanese bondage and Kinbaku and is not sexual in its own right.

There are many ways that couples can introduce bondage sex into sexual fun. But, first, let's take a look at some of the positions that you can use in the bedroom (or wherever you choose to play) that can put you in charge of your sexual enjoyment and that of your partner.

Before we start, though, it is essential to include a note of caution. While rope bondage can be incredibly fun, it can also be dangerous if not practiced properly. If you don't know what you're doing, you may want to enroll in a class. Yes, there are courses you can enroll in to learn how to play safely. No individual's physical health should be put at risk. Bondage sex requires attention to detail and safe, efficient modes for release. Keep safety scissors within immediate reach, ready to use when you need them. Another important caveat is that you should only really indulge in rope bondage with someone you trust and can communicate honestly. If you have this all in place, here's what you need to try:

Double Column Tie

This is a fundamental handcuff-style tie with two loops around two columns, usually two limbs. This tie shouldn't self-tighten or collapse. Just make sure there is plenty of room to wiggle when you tie your partner's wrists or ankles as you don't want to damage nerves or impede circulation.

Boxtie

This is a fundamental tie in Shibari and has lots of variations. The simplest way to use it is with either a single long rope or two long ropes measuring between 25 and 30 feet. The Red Scandal BDSM Rope would be perfect for this job.

Start by tying your partner's wrists behind their back and then wrap the rope around their body and arms. Next, go under the pecs or breasts, over them, and pull the ropes by connecting them between the torso and the arms. This is an excellent choice for allowing full access to genitals and nipples or a face-down anal position.

Bondage Doggy

Grab a rope such as the Yellow Boundless Rope and get your partner to kneel and then bend forward so that their chest is flat on the floor or bed and their butt is in the air. Tie their wrists behind their thighs and circle around the legs to the ankles. If this pulls their neck too much, you could put a pillow beneath their chest.

 The Crab

Bend your partner's legs and then tie the ankle and thigh of one leg together using a double column tie. Then connect the other leg in the same way. You could also tie their wrists to their thighs if you like. This is great if your partner wants to feel vulnerable and you want to revel in the power play involved in being in charge. It is also perfect for receiving or giving oral pleasure.

Puppy Style

This involves tying your partner's wrists together and then securing their ankles to a pole. Just make sure that you don't use a bar to give your bottom splinters. This is an ideal way to make your partner feel exposed and is very good if you want to indulge in penetration from behind.

Hogtie

This is a BDSM classic that starts with your partner lying on their stomach. Begin by tying their wrists behind their back and their ankles together and then linking the two. You can even get accessories such as the Boundless Hog Tie to make things easier. This is an excellent mood-setter for a full-on BDSM session, but it can cause strain on the shoulders and back, so make sure that you check in with your partner regularly and have a robust and quick exit plan in place.

Sexy Spoon

If you like spoony sex, this may be a good choice for you. First, tie your partner's wrists together and then tie their left ankle to their right thigh and their left thigh to the bicep of their left arm. Your partner's body should look amazing tied up in this position.

As always, play safe, my friends!
